Smith Interlock Trace Sunglasses REVIEW

If you are going to design sunglasses, this is how they should be. The Interlock Trace from Smith looks cool, fits and sports their latest Interlock technology that allows you to change lens tints whilst not looking like a dorky triathlete.

Sporty and chic, I got the Trace a while ago and have put in a few good mid winter days patio drinking, ski touring and driving in them. Smith brought out 3 styles that utilize their new Interlock technology, the Interlock 01, Whisper and Trace. A step up from the popular Slider series, the Interlock works by twisting the arms to cam the frame open, allowing you to swap lenses according to light or replace trashed and scratched lenses. The lens sits completely within the frame and to the outside world, these look like a regular set of glasses, but you know their little secret.

With the option of 14 different lenses, you can set these glasses up to suit you or your need. The Tracer comes with a polarized lens for immaculate vision and depth perception in the alpine or fishing on the boat in the summer and has a medium fit. The lenses feature Tapered Lens Technology which means the lens is thinned from the center to the edge to eliminate distortion. Carbonic lenses are the most impact resistant lenses out there, and guess what, Smith uses them. The TR90 Grilamid frame is bomber and the rubber temple pads keep them stuck to your face. Who would have thought there would be so much technology and fancy words in sunglasses?

Wear anything else though and it all starts to make sense. Throw in a lifetime warranty and it's a no-brainer.

The Trace comes with 3 other interchangeable lenses included and with mid winter behind us, don't get caught squinting into the sun.
