In July I took off to Indonesia for a long overdue vacation. After the completion of STAND, a break was in order so I prescribed for myself a month on the beach with little to no computer. I landed in Bali and spent some time recovering from a mountain bike crash in Canggu, before exploring Ubud for a few days. I spent the last part of my trip on Gili T learning to dive. It is something I have wanted to do for a long time and I am so glad I finally did.
I did my advanced open water with the fine folks at Manta Dive (Aan is an incredible teacher and a spectacular human being). I also put to good use the dive housing that Ikelite supplied myself and Nic for the production of STAND. It was great to be able to shoot without the pressure or a production and experiment. It was awesome to have full control also with a proper dive housing. The underwater world is an astounding place and makes wonder why we ventured into space before fully appreciating our oceans. Needless to say, spending time and shooting underwater is something I foresee a lot of in my future.
After the month I was refreshed and ready to get back home and onto the next project. Watch this space.
